JAS Local Education Initiatives
develop programming that complements existing public school music programs and replaces programs where schools suffer losses due to budget cuts. Programs are invaluable to students and teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley and 1-70 corridor.

JAS-In-Schools
JAS's school residency program provides middle and high school students with an in-depth introduction to jazz from professional jazz musicians and educators. Each residency includes master classes with existing school bands and ensembles, assemblies and free public concerts.
JAS-In-Schools Summer Camps
consist of three two-week sessions taught by members of JASIS Faculty Band. Each camp includes performance opportunities. College students from CU, DU and UNC teach the first session, providing mentorship and instruction to advanced High School and Middle School students. This years camps are set for June 9-22, July 14-27 and August 11-15 at Roaring Fork High School. Call JAS at 970-920-4996 for more info.LEI Faculty Assistance Program
is designed to provide local band directors with classroom assistance. There are currently five instructors on the LEI Faculty roster, helping in all instrumental areas (brass, reed, percussion & vocal).

Pays to Play
The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Pays to Play Private Lesson fund was established to provide initiative for Roaring Fork Valley youth (ages 7-18) to take private lessons in any instrumental discipline. JAS will pay for the first three lessons to support & promote furthering music education, simultaneously supporting the economy of local music instructors.
Stuff for Students
supports schools through instrument and equipment donations. School music teachers assess the classroom needs not met with school budget and a yearly request is made for desired equipment and instruments. The JAS Room
is a first class facility, providing a variety of materials for teachers and students including jazz & jazz inspired play charts, sheet music, CD play-a-longs, method books, CDs, DVDs, biographies, jazz dictionaries, theory books and a digital music collection featuring jazz standards. Located in the new Roaring Fork High School band room, this facility will be available to teachers and students throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and I-70 corridor.

Tickets for Teachers
JAS donates hundreds of tickets annually for its June & Labor Day festivals and other JAS performances to teachers and students within the Roaring Fork Valley.JAS Sponsorship
JAS Sponsorship of District 8 Honor Jazz, Roaring Fork High School Ram Jam Band, Jazz Kollektive, Greeley Jazz Festival & the Basalt Battle of the Bands. JAS provides sponsorship for these programs by covering transportation costs, room and board, compensation for faculty, supplying t-shirts and posters, assistance with venue fees, and many other costs associated with production.
